The Government at a session on Tuesday decided to launch a procedure for the selection of a universal electricity supplier. The universal supplier is to supply electricity to households and small consumers in accordance with the obligations under the Law on Energy and the rules on supply.
The universal supplier will have the obligation to provide universal service for a period not exceeding five years, in line with the law, the Government said in a press release.
The tender documentation and the public call will be prepared in the coming period, in order to protect the interests of citizens and small consumers.
“The selection of a universal supplier is in accordance with the Law on Energy for the purpose of exercising the right of households and small consumers connected to the electricity system and the universal service in the supply of electricity,” the Government notes.
